The Johnstons of Elgin Gossamer throw has a beautiful lustrous and soft finish, enhanced by the century-old method of scouring the fabric in the softest, most natural Scottish water. It ensures the fabric is restored to being super-soft after weaving.
The weight of the throw is very lightweight - lending to its part silk composition (and it's name!). All the natural fibres used - silk, cashmere and merino wool - are of the highest quality and sourced ethically and sustainably.
Being fine and lightweight, it is perfect for summer, layering or for those who don't like heavy bed blankets.
Johnstons of Elgin have been establish for over 200 years, being one of the last remain vertical mills in Great Britain. This means that all processes are completed in house to ensure the highest quality.

The finishing process is incredibly important in contributing to the finished texture of the product. When cloth has been woven, it has a rough appearance. To combat this, the century-old method of scouring the fabric in the softest, most natural Scottish water is used. It ensures the fabric is restored to being super-soft. The process also removes the oil used to protect the fibres during the manufacturing process.
