Harrod Horticultural’s Ultimate Guide to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2024
We’ve partnered up with Harrod Horticultural to share their guide to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show ahead of this year’s event. Celebrating 70 years of business, Harrod Horticultural is a gardener’s favourite for supplying inspirational and superior quality garden products.
The world’s greatest flower show is just around the corner, and whether you’re visiting the show or spectating from home, we’re here to help you make the most of the event.
Here at Harrod Horticultural we’ve exhibited at the Chelsea Flower Show since 2004 and in that time we have seen some of the most famous moments in the show’s history. So, whether you’re a gardening novice or a green fingered expert, Chelsea is a brilliant time to draw inspiration for your own garden.
Where is the show and how to get there
RHS Chelsea Flower show has been hosted at the Royal Chelsea Hospital grounds every year since 1913, when the first ever flower show took place.
The nearest tube station to the show is Sloane Square, which is a 12–15-minute walk from the grounds. This journey is a brilliant time to admire some of the floral displays dotted around the streets of Chelsea as part of the Chelsea in Bloom festival.
Plan ahead
If you are yet to visit the show, the sheer scale of the grounds is incredible! Make a hit list of gardens you’d like to see and trade stands you’d like to visit. Read on to discover some of the gardens we are looking forward to visiting.
There is something for everyone at the show. From the Container Gardens to suit smaller spaces, to the Balcony Gardens for those in urban areas, the RHS Chelsea Flower Show is the perfect opportunity to draw inspiration from the professionals.
As well as all the show gardens have to offer, this is often the biggest event of the year for many of the exhibitors and it’s safe to say that many of the trade stands aim to transport you to a tranquil garden oasis.
The Harrod Horticultural exhibit
Since our first time exhibiting at the show, we have displayed a vast range of our products from garden tools to fruit cages and now our luxury handcrafted Southwold Collection garden furniture.
This year, Harrod Horticultural’s exhibit on Western Avenue will be dedicated entirely to the timeless and handcrafted Southwold Collection garden furniture, which features a wide variety of dining table sets, pergolas, planters, obelisks and supports. Each piece being hot dip galvanised for rust protection and hand etched to give the most distinctive antique appearance that continues to improve over time.
This year, we have had the privilege of working with Rebecca Udall on our stand who will be supplying some beautiful tableware and Raymond Evison Clematis who will be supplying two varieties of clematis to the stand.
Do make sure to come and see us on stand WA183!
The Great Pavilion
The Great Pavilion has long been considered the jewel in RHS Chelsea’s crown. You can find it at the centre of the show, packed with plants from world leading growers and nurseries. A walk through the pavilion is a great opportunity to marvel at the wonderful floral creations so be sure to have your camera at the ready as there are plenty of photo opportunities!
No Adults Allowed Garden
This is the first ever garden in the show’s history which has been designed by children. Pupils of the Sulivan Primary School in London have teamed up with garden designer, Harry Holding, to create a design for the garden. Once the gates of the show have closed, the garden will be donated and relocated back to Sulivan Primary for the children to enjoy for years to come.
