The REBECCA UDALL Christmas Gift Guide

Christmas is creeping closer and its time to start thinking about gifts. I prefer a more holistic approach to choosing gifts, taking the time to find gifts that speak to their personalities and interests rather than opting for generic presents. I like to gift something that will be treasured and that the recipient will get plenty of use out of, and if I’m struggling for ideas of tangible presents, I also consider gifting experiences such as a voucher for a meal at their favourite restaurant or theatre tickets that we can enjoy together.

My Christmas gift edits are organised to help you discover the perfect gift for a variety of people – whether they love spending time in the kitchen, relaxing in the bath, setting a table or have a passion for artisan items. We also have unique and high quality ideas for presents for those who may be hosting you this festive season or stocking fillers.

Gifts for the Host

Our host gift edit includes both decorative and practical gift ideas, from colourful dinner candles to bar and cheese cutlery sets that are beautifully made by heritage or artisan makers. A new set of sumptuous hand towels or a beautiful glass carafe are gifts that are both beautiful and functional. Other invariably useful but beautiful pieces for around the home include our trinket dishes, table linens and decorative kitchen accessories.

Gifts for Foodies

Wondering what to buy for someone who loves to cook or foodie? For friends and family with these interests a special artisan and design-led piece for their kitchen and a provenance focused food item always goes down well. Think a cheese board and knife set wrapped up with a selection of delicious cheeses and quince, or a hand blown glass oil bottle with a fine olive oil. Also consider elevated practical pieces for their kitchen such as a set of carving knives, ceramic pouring bowls or a table brush set. Wooden chopping and serving boards, salt and pepper mills, and design-led platters are also great gift ideas for anyone with a passion for food.

Gifts for Wellness

If you are buying for someone who enjoys relaxing or a routine Sunday soak in the bath - something I really enjoy and find gets my thoughts in place for the week ahead, my wellness edit is the perfect place to look for inspiration. This year, I’m offering a capsule collection of soaps and lotions that can be combined with hand towels and rattan trays to present a thoughtful bundle of artisan and heritage gifts. Alternatively, one of hand crafted seashell soaps and ceramic dishes make the perfect pairing – the dishes are available in a variety of silhouettes and although they have many other uses, are perfect for placing beside the basin as a soap dish or to hold jewellery. Also consider more practical ideas, such as a rattan tissue box cover or a set of bath towels

Gifts for Entertainers

If you’re looking for a gift for someone who loves to entertain – from cocktail parties, barbecues or intimate dinners, this edit is full of inspiration. From barware to tableware, cocktail napkins to serving trays and ideas to suit any budget. Our beautiful hand woven rattan ice bucket is a widely loved gift for many, as is a set of cocktail napkins or a set of bar cutlery. Or, if you’re buying for someone who loves to host dinner parties, consider tableware such as serving boards, platters or a special salt and pepper mill set. Candles and holders are always a lovely present, particularly artisanal candleholders and highest quality European candles. They make a lovely gift together.

Gifts for the Hard-to-buy-for

We all have those people who is notoriously tricky to buy for. They may seem to have everything, you don’t know them well or they make be quite particular? This gift edit is filled with some of our most popular pieces and truly unique, special handmade and heritage gifts that few wouldn’t like. Our Millefiori glassware is a popular gift choice that most adore, whilst our brass salt and pepper mills are quite special and again, an elevated classic that is very popular. I’ve also included gift ideas that are particularly smart, unusual or useful, offering plenty of inspiration for anyone you are struggling with on your list. My collaboration with Pomarius offers a selection of bronze cast leaf dishes as well as a curation of their fruits that work as decorative art d’objets for around the home.

Stocking Fillers

Personally, I love putting a stocking together for my partner and close family members, discovering small yet beautiful and meaningful items to fill one of my velvet and silk stockings. Stocking fillers are traditionally small items, but that doesn’t mean they should be throw-away gifts. My stocking fillers edit includes a selection of items that are small enough to fit in a stocking but will be beloved by their recipient – from ceramic trays and sets of dinner candles, to bottle openers and cocktail napkins. I’ve also curated a small range of beautifully patterned notebooks which are ideal for handbags as small jotting pads, as well as artisanal crafted exfoliating soaps and decorative glass bud vases.
