The Tablecloths in Rebecca’s Linen Cupboard and How to Style Them

The perfect tablecloth will completely transform your dining table, but can also be used all year-round in different seasons for different occasions. Rather than always buying new, we encourage you to invest in a few timeless tablecloths that you can style in different ways, using them over and over again. We asked our founder, Rebecca, to share three tablecloths that she has in her own collection, that she considers to be timeless and versatile.

Classic Linen Hemstitch Tablecloth, White

A simple, classic white tablecloth is the ultimate investment piece. There is no end to the ways that you can style this tablecloth, introducing different colours and textures with the crockery, napkins, placemats and accessories that you choose. It works for all the special occasions throughout the year – Christmas, Easter, birthdays, etc. This timeless tablecloth is woven and made in Portugal using European flax. The linen gets softer with use, meaning that this tablecloth is designed to elevate the everyday rather than being saved for best.

Style for Christmas with red placemats, rattan chargers and seasonal foliage.

Ruffle Gingham Linen Tablecloth, Chocolate Brown

A gingham tablecloth is fun yet practical addition to every linen closet. I also love our coloured gingham linens, but this brown check is particularly wonderful as it can be used all year round. It looks just as stylish when styled for Spring with cabbageware and pops of colour as it does for autumn when paired with more neutral, warm hues. The ruffles add a whimsical twist that I love, adding an element of joy to the room when you set the table.

Style for autumn with darker colours. New tableware coming soon.

Hellebore Ruffle Linen Tablecloth

The third tablecloth that I would recommend adding to your collection is a patterned design that has different colour palette and feel, but equally can be used year round. Being a winter flower, despite it being a floral it's suitable for styling during autumn and winter - I often choose to style with terracotta pots of hellebore and moss. Alternatively, for example, when we styled this tablecloth for Christmas last year it looked beautiful paired with festive greenery and touches of red and burgundy. The colour palette includes ochre, forest green, burgundy and berry red - all colours that you can bring out in the styling to suit your palette. For spring and summer, teaming with rattan chargers, cabbageware, matching napkins and seasonal flowers keep things fresh.
