Linen Napkins
Choosing Your Linen Napkins
Selecting table napkins is partly about design and partly about how you live. If you favour a clean, understated table, our Classic Hemstitch and Mitred napkins offer quiet, refined detailing that pairs well with almost anything.
For more texture and warmth, the Basketweave collection has a gently woven surface that adds depth to a simpler setting. And for occasions where you want the table to feel a little more playful or whimsical, our exquisite hand-painted printed designs bring colour and personality.
All our linen napkins are cut at 50x50 cm. A larger cloth sits more comfortably on the lap, folds with more weight for a place setting, and simply feels more considered in the hand.
Why choose linen napkins over cotton?
Linen is woven from flax, a fibre that is naturally stronger than cotton and becomes softer with every wash. It also releases stains more easily, dries faster, and has inherent anti-bacterial properties. These are important considerations for something that gets laundered as often as a table napkin. Cotton napkins serve well, but linen will outlast them and feel better doing it.
How do I wash linen napkins?
A gentle machine wash at 30°C is all they need. Air drying is ideal. Linen is a robust fabric that handles regular washing without losing its shape, its softness or its drape. For more information, see our guide on how to care for linen fabric.
Can linen napkins be used every day?
They are at their best when used every day. Linen is one of the most durable natural fabrics available, and its stain-releasing properties make it genuinely practical for daily meals. We believe the best linens should be part of your daily rituals, not saved for occasions that rarely come.
Do linen napkins crease?
Linen does have a natural tendency to crease, which is part of its relaxed, lived-in character. It gives the table a warmth that overly pressed cloth can lack. If you prefer a smoother look, a brief press with a warm iron while the fabric is slightly damp will give you a crisp finish.
What is OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification?
It is an independent testing and certification system that verifies textiles are free from a wide range of harmful substances. All our table linens, napkins included, carry this certification, which means the cloth in contact with your skin and your food has been independently verified as safe.
