Taper candles bring height, colour and light to the dining table. Our non-drip taper candles are hand dipped in Denmark by a family-owned heritage candlemaker, using pure, fine paraffin wax and a cotton wick for a stable, soot-free and long-lasting burn. Each 35cm tapered candle burns for up to 15 hours and, when kept away from draughts and cared for correctly, is designed to burn without dripping.

Available in a wide spectrum of colours, from quiet neutrals to richer seasonal shades, these long candles bring warmth and atmosphere to everyday dinners, long lunches and convivial gatherings. Hand-Dipped Danish Non-Drip Taper Candles

There is something especially pleasing about a tall taper candle on the table: the height, the steady flame and the way a little colour can change the mood of a meal without dominating it. Our Danish candles are hand dipped by a family-owned candlemaker, giving them the slender proportions and quiet character we return to again and again.

We like them grouped in pairs or small clusters, either in one colour or mixed across the table. Softer neutrals sit comfortably with patterned table linens and crockery, while deeper reds, greens and ambers bring more depth as the light drops and the evening settles in.

Long, Thin Candles in a Considered Palette

Colour is one of the pleasures of this collection. Our tapered candles come in a broad palette, from linen, plaster and nougat neutrals to powder pink, denim blue, olive green, burgundy and warmer tones such as amber and burnt orange. This breadth makes it easy to return to the same candle shape while changing the mood through colour alone.

Their long, thin shape makes them easy to arrange amongst glassware, flowers and serveware, whether you use a matching pair or combine several colours and heights. Are taper candles the same as dinner candles?

Taper candles, tapered candles and dinner candles generally refer to the same tall, narrow style of candle designed to sit in a candlestick or holder. Our Danish taper candles measure 35cm (14in) high and have a standard tapered base for easy fitting.

How long do Rebecca Udall taper candles burn?

Each of our taper candles has a burn time of up to 15 hours when cared for correctly. Their long burn time makes them particularly useful for dinners and gatherings that continue well into the evening.

How do I keep taper candles from dripping?

Our candles are non-drip when kept away from draughts and cared for correctly. We recommend trimming the wick to around 1cm and positioning them away from open windows, doorways and air conditioning, as moving air can disturb the flame and cause dripping.

How should I store taper candles?

We recommend storing taper candles flat in a cool place between uses. This helps them retain their straight shape, particularly if they are being kept for a future dinner, celebration or event.

Do your taper candles fit standard candlesticks?

Yes. Our taper candles measure 2.2cm (0.9in) across the base and have a standard tapered shape designed to fit our own candlesticks and most other candle holders.

Are your Danish taper candles suitable for gifting?

Yes. Each set contains six taper candles presented in a Rebecca Udall gift box. They make a useful host gift, either on their own or paired with a candlestick or candle snuffer.
