Table Linens

A well-laid table can change how a meal feels. It can turn a weekday supper into something worth sitting down for and give a long Saturday lunch the sense of occasion it deserves. That conviction sits behind every piece of table linen in our collection, from linen tablecloths and napkins to placemats, coasters and cocktail napkins. Each is woven from European flax and crafted to bring joy to the everyday.

Linen is our fabric of choice for the table because nothing else drapes, wears or ages in quite the same way. It releases stains readily, dries quickly, and grows softer and more supple with every wash. These are not delicate pieces to save for best; they are working linens, designed to be part of your daily rituals and to last for years.

Luxury Table Linens Crafted from European Flax

We source exclusively from European flax grown in France, Belgium and the Netherlands. The temperate maritime climate and rich soil produce fibres that are longer, finer and more consistent than those grown elsewhere. It is the quality of the raw fibre that determines how linen feels and how it performs over years of use. European flax sets the standard.

From the flax fields, our cloth moves to skilled European weavers and finishers. Our finest table linens are Italian-woven and finished, following a process that draws on generations of textile expertise. This delivers the particular handle, drape and lustre that distinguish a truly considered cloth. Others are woven by heritage makers across Europe, each chosen for their mastery of the craft. All our table linens carry OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification, a detail that is important when the cloth is on your table every day.

Building a Table That Feels Like You

The beauty of a well-chosen table linen collection is how it works together. A Classic Hemstitch tablecloth paired with generously sized dinner napkins in a toning shade. A Basketweave linen tablecloth layered with woven placemats for texture and warmth, or a hand-painted printed cloth that brings personality to an otherwise simple setting. We design our textiles to sit harmoniously alongside one another, and alongside our tableware, so you can layer tones, textures and details in a way that feels fitting for your home.

Bear in mind that our European table linens are not pieces to keep folded in a drawer for special occasions. They are hardwearing, easy to launder, and develop their own unique character with regular use. The cloth softens, the drape relaxes, and they become more yours over time. For ideas on how to bring napkins, tablecloths and tableware together, Rebecca shares her own approach in The Tablecloths in Rebecca's Linen Cupboard.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you still have some questions please do feel free to get in touch with us.

What is the best fabric for table linen?

Linen, woven from the flax plant, is widely considered the finest fabric for the table. It is exceptionally strong, which gives it a longevity that other fabrics struggle to match. Linen also releases stains more readily, absorbs moisture without feeling damp, and dries faster than most alternatives. Perhaps most importantly, it improves with use.

Why do you use European flax?

European flax has fibres that are longer, finer and more uniform, which translates to a smoother, more lustrous cloth with superior drape. It is the reason European table linens have been the standard for fine table settings for centuries.

How do I care for linen table linen?

Linen launders beautifully at moderate temperatures. We recommend a gentle machine wash at 30°C and air drying where possible. If you prefer a crisper finish, iron while still slightly damp. Avoid bleach, as it weakens the fibres over time. With straightforward care, your linens will last for many years.

Is linen tablecloth-friendly for everyday use?

Very much so. Linen is one of the most practical fabrics you can put on a table. Its stain-releasing properties mean that wine, oil and food marks wash out more easily than from cotton or synthetics. Its durability also means it can handle regular laundering without losing its shape or softness. We are firm believers in using your best linens daily.

What sizes of tablecloth do you offer?

We carry a wide range of sizes, from standard rectangular, round and square cloths to generous 300 cm widths for larger dining tables. If you need guidance on choosing the right size, allow for a drop of around 25–45 cm on each side for everyday use, or a longer drop for formal occasions. Our tablecloth size guide has detailed recommendations by table shape and dimension.

What is OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification?

OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 is an independent testing and certification system for textiles. It verifies that the fabric has been tested for a wide range of harmful substances and found to be safe for direct contact with the skin. All our table linens carry this certification, which gives peace of mind that the cloth on your table is safe for your family.
